This
product line is typically ordered by the marketing and/or
sales department of an organization. A strong, vibrant color
visual of XYZ Company going into the hands of their prospective
customer communicates a high level of sophistication and
a positive image and brand.
If
the product has over 90% coverage and is printed onto a
gloss stock, clients will want to consider some special
coating. This coating can be lamination, UV coat, varnish
and a couple other types of protection against finger prints,
smudging and to enhance the appearance.
Commercial
Printing, also known as four color process, full color printing
or CMYK is one of the largest products lines in our industry.
It is also one of the most technical and complex yet we
find that print shops often attempt production of projects
that are outside their realm of skill or run size and cost
clients added cost and aggravation. Here is where using
a distributor such as Horizon Business Systems truly pays
off. Put our knowledge and network to work for your task
and you will find our ever present "Ease of Transaction"
philosophy making this product purchase better managed.
Commercial Printing, for our definition, is any full color
project that is business card size up to 14 x 22. Larger
projects we consider to be Large Format Printing.
Start
with the artwork. If client supplied, it must be built with
the proper software and be created with the end result in
mind. Many talented designers simply do not have a full
understanding of what it takes to get the image from the
computer screen to replicable on a printing press.
Some
do not realize that screen color is created using red, green
and blue, while printed color is created using red, yellow,
blue and black. In fact, all the images must be in CMYK,
all the elements must be linked, all the fonts must be part
of the electronic files, approved, printed, copies of the
files must be supplied. For more info, see our website for
Artwork Requirements or ask your Horizon contact for further
data. Our staff is trained on assisting clients to assure
their commercial printing projects get swiftly and intelligently
through the "prepress" function.
Production
of the negatives and/or plates must be taken into consideration.
Based on your run quantity and the sophistication of the
production equipment, clients will want to use the highest
line screen possible for the greatest clarity of the completed
project.
Color
keys and/or match prints are a necessity to demonstrate
to the equipment operators exactly how you want the final
outcome to appear.
After
press embellishments may include lamination, UV coating,
aqueous coating, embossing, foiling, special scoring, folding
or die cutting.
Price
conscience clients will want to be assured that they are
getting the highest quality printing from the smallest production
house possible. Small runs are costly and difficult to produce
at large printing factories.
